Some resources in this guide are Mitchell Hamline School of Law licensed databases. These are available to students, faculty, and staff either with a network login or individual password. Many of them are also available to the public from the computers in the library, as well as through computers signed into the school's wireless network.
Bloomberg Law, Westlaw, and Lexis are subscription services that require users to have individual accounts for access.

Every county in Minnesota has a county law library that is open to the public. Many of the libraries in larger communities have a specific mission to serve the public, and they may be staffed with reference librarians to help you find legal resources.
Additionally, there are three law schools in the Twin Cities, each with a comprehensive law library. While the primary mission of each of these libraries is to serve their faculty and students, they are open to the public as well. While the law school libraries are usually open more hours than the public law libraries, these libraries are not specifically set up to help public patrons, so their collections may not contain the self help material a public patron might need.
Reference librarians can help you find legal materials and teach you to use legal research resources, but they cannot interpret legal material or give legal advice.
